Neighbourhood Watch

Enfield Island Village has been designated a Neighbourhood Watch area, coordinated by the Enfield Island Village Trust.

Minutes 7 May 2011

The Trust has erected warning signs around the Island to try and prevent crime. Criminals know they will be convicted if they end up in court with Smartwater marked products or clothing. It also means reduced insurance premiums for Islanders (you should tell your house and vehicle insurers that you are in a Neighbourhood Watch area) and regular support from the police. The Neighbourhood Watch team aims to secure discounts for security equipment for owners and residents. This brings the Trust into partnership with the police, aimed at securing a safer community for residents.

Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Our local Met police team is called the Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) on 020 8721 2690 or 07920 233773. They can also be contacted by email at EnfieldLock.snt@met.police.uk. Obviously call 999 for any emergency or if you see a crime in progress.

To contact your local Police Station call the H24 telephone number 0300 123 1212.

The Island is a SMARTWATER Protected Area

Thieves Beware - Smartwater Technology is deployed throughout the Island! Residents of the Island work in close partnership with the police and the Safer Neighbourhoods Team to develop proactive crime reduction and community improvement strategies, tailored to the needs of the Island community.

There is funding for everyone on the Island to have free Smartwater forensic property marking, so if you haven’t arranged this yet, please ring our local police team on 020 8721 2690 or the EIV Trust office on 01992 769143.

There is a 100% conviction rate for court cases where Smartwater is used as evidence. More importantly, the local police tell us that, at the time of writing, no home on the Island with Smartwater has been burgled.
