Amenities, Travel and Schools
Enfield Island Village has an island centre with an NHS dentist, a doctors surgery, a fitness club, community centre, library, youth club, day nursery and a range of other businesses including a Tesco Express, pharmacy, dry cleaners, and a Chinese takeaway. The Enfield Island Village Trust has an office at 39 Island Centre Way. The office is staffed during the day by Iain Campbell, a local resident who is employed to look after the Trust and the flat management companies on the island.
Enfield Lock railway station is half a mile away (about 10 minutes walk) and provides direct access to London Liverpool Street or Stratford and to Stansted Airport. Tube travellers can take the train from Enfield Lock to Tottenham Hale tube station for the Victoria Line. Loughton tube station for the Central Line is about 3.5 miles away by car. The Island is on the 121 and 491 bus routes and for car drivers is just a couple of miles from the A10 and M25 (junction 25).
